Description:

The Honeywell 10001/R/1 is a versatile and reliable vertical bus driver module designed for use inHoneywell's Factory Automation System (FAS) and other industrial control systems. Enables communication between the central rack and multiple VO racksvia vertical bus connections, ensuring reliable data transfer and system expansion in TPS/Experion environments. It serves as arobust communication link between the system's central processing unit (CPU) and connected modules.

The 10001/R/1 Vertical Bus Driver (VBD) module is a critical component within the Central Part(CP) of theFSC system, connecting it to the I/O level. This module is installed in the Central Part rack, with amaximum of 14 vertical bus drivers per CP. Each VBD supports up to10 Horizontal Bus Driver (HBD)modules. The maximum distance between a VBD and any I/O rack on the vertical bus is 5 meters (16.4feet). The VBD modules are used for establishing communication between the central processor and I/0modules in the system.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q1: What are the most common faults in this module?
A1: Electrolytic Capacitor Aging:This is the number one cause of failure. After 20-30 years of operation, the electrolytic capacitors inside the module will dry out, bulge, and leak, leading to increased power supply ripple and various instabilities.
Power Supply Failure:Damage to power supply components such as voltage regulators and diodes can result in no output or unstable voltage.
Connector Problems:Loose, oxidized, or damaged center pins on the rear coaxial cable connector.
Chip Aging: Logic chips, memory chips, or driver chips may fail over time due to aging.
Clock Failure:The internal clock circuit may stop oscillating, causing the RUN indicator to malfunction and the module to stop working.

Q2: What do the indicator lights (STA, ACK, RUN, etc.) on the front panel of the module represent?
PWR (Power):Lighting on indicates normal power supply (+5V, -5V, +12V, -12V). If off, the entire module is not working.

RUN (Run):Flashes during normal operation. If constantly lit or off, it indicates a logic or clock fault in the module.
STA (Status): Indicates the synchronization status of the module with the LCN. It should be steadily lit under normal conditions. Flashing or being off indicates synchronization loss and inability to communicate.
ACK (Acknowledgement): Flashes briefly when the module successfully receives or forwards a valid LCN data packet. Regular flashing will be seen under normal network activity. Prolonged periods without flashing may indicate network inactivity or module transceiver failure.
RTP (Repeater): Flashes when the module is operating as a repeater.
L (Local): Normally off. May be lit in some diagnostic modes.
