Description:

The 3500 Encore Power Supplies are half height modules and must be installed in the specially designed slots on the left side of the 3500 ENCORE System rack. Dual redundant or single 3500/10E Power Supplies are offered in the 3500 ENCORE System rack. The 3500 ENCORE Power Supply accepts a wide range of input voltages and converts them to voltages acceptable for use by other 3500 Encore modules:

Converts and regulates the unregulated DC input from an external power source into a stable and isolated DC voltage required by all monitoring modules within the rack.

• Redundant Power Supply

Designed for pair installation in a 3500 rack, the two power modules share the load. If one power supply fails, the other automatically takes over the entire load, ensuring uninterrupted system operation and achieving high availability.

• Status Monitoring and Communication

The module has built-in diagnostics to monitor its own status and transmits this status information to the frame interface module via backplane communication, ultimately uploading it to the host computer monitoring system.

1. Why is a 3500/10E needed? Can't the signal be connected in parallel directly?
Direct parallel connection is absolutely not recommended. The main reasons for using the 3500/10E include:

• Preventing signal attenuation and distortion

Directly connecting the sensor signal to multiple loads changes the loop impedance, causing signal amplitude attenuation and waveform distortion, resulting in inaccurate measurements.

• Electrical isolation

The 3500/10E provides electrical isolation between input and output, preventing ground loops, noise interference, or external equipment failures from affecting critical mechanical protection monitoring circuits.

• Protecting the integrity of the monitoring system

Without a buffer, wiring errors or malfunctions of external equipment may directly affect the 3500 monitor module, causing it to fail to receive the correct vibration signal, leading to false shutdowns or loss of protection functions.
2. What channel configurations are available for the 3500/10E?

• 3500/10E-01-01-00

This is a single-channel buffer module. One module processes the signal from only one sensor.

• 3500/10E-02-01-00

This is a dual-channel buffer module. One module can process signals from two independent sensors simultaneously, which is equivalent to integrating two independent single-channel buffers into one module, saving slot space.
