Renewable, reliable, inexpensive, and green. Hydropower is an indispensable part of today’s generating portfolio and for more than 70 years, we’ve been at the forefront of this industry, including the specialized low-frequency monitoring needed by massive hydro turbine-generators – whether Francis, Kaplan, or Pelton, and whether pumped-storage, accumulation, run-of-river, or derivational. Our solutions extend beyond the turbine-generator as well, covering spillways, control gates, penstocks, pumps, wicket gates, and more. And, our solutions extend beyond vibration to include overspeed, generator air gap, and more.
Why vibro-meter
Experience – Our “by the numbers” statistics tell a simple, compelling story: we know hydro. Our solutions are trusted and have been for decades. Unlike providers that deliver only sensors or only monitors, we deliver both, assuring you of single-point responsibility with solutions that are designed to work together flawlessly, year after year.
Breadth – Every measurement you need for hydropower machinery is within our portfolio. And because your generation strategy rarely consists of just one source of energy, you can turn to vibro-meter to monitor the machinery in your fossil, geothermal, nuclear, biomass, and even concentrated solar plants – all in an integrated solution that spans the breadth of your generating assets.
Quality – Legendary Swiss quality. The same caliber of engineering that goes into the complexity of a hydro plant goes into every monitoring solution we provide.
Value – It is not uncommon to find our solutions delivering reliable service two and sometimes even three decades after they were installed. Your investment in vibro-meter solutions is paid back through products that last while delivering unparalleled machinery protection integrity and the real-time, actionable information you need to make informed machinery operating and maintenance decisions on your hydro assets.
Support – Our factory-trained professionals know not just our products, but also the many types of plants, hydro turbines, and associated plant equipment in the hydropower sector. We also understand the complex Operational Technology (OT) and IT ecosystems in which today’s critical power generation infrastructure must operate – all while adhering to the highest levels of cybersecurity. And, we pride ourselves on an extensive, global network that allows you to interact with experts in your time zone and speaking your language.
VIBRO-METER SENSOR PORTFOLIO for Hydropower Applications
vibro-meter’s comprehensive range of sensors to monitor hydropower equipment are functional down to very low frequencies, in wet and corrosive environments and in the presence of electromagnetic and radio frequency interference.
Proximity Probes
The TQ series of proximity probes covers a broad measurement range from 2 to 12 mm and are designed to withstand pressures up to 100 bar.(TQ402;TQ412;TQ912;TQ902;TQ403)
Accelerometers with Integrated Electronics
The CE and SE series of accelerometers with integrated electronics have excellent low-frequency response (down to 0.2 Hz) and are ideal for smaller hydro units using rolling element bearings and/or speed-reducing gears that require monitoring using accelerometers.(CE620;CE680;CE311)
Moving-Coil Velocity Sensors
Our range of moving-coil velocity sensors have the advantages of being self-powered and providing a strong output signal in native velocity units (50 mV/mm/s for the VE210), so no integration is required and the signal-to-noise ratio is excellent.
Piezo-Velocity Sensors
Our range of compact and cost effective piezoelectric velocity sensors enable general-purpose vibration monitoring solutions, for example, PV660 with a voltage output (down to 1.9 Hz (114 rpm)) and PV685 with a 4-20 mA current loop output (down to 3 Hz (180 rpm)).(PV660;PV685)
VM600/VM600MK2
Centralized and modular architecture with a higher channel density that addresses complex installations. Dynamic inputs and auxiliary inputs (tacho, process, other) from proximity probes, accelerometers, velocity and air-gap measurement chains are connected to cards installed in standard 19-inch, 6U racks installed in a cabinet. 1U racks are also available.(MPC4;CPUM)
VibroSmart
Distributed architecture with a lower channel density. Inputs from all measurement chains are wired to DIN-rail mounted modules typically installed in an industrial housing, closer to or on the machinery being monitored. As a result, sensor cabling is effectively replaced by Ethernet cabling, thereby reducing installation costs.(VSV301)
DYNAMIC PRESSURE SENSORS FOR COMBUSTION MONITORING
The CP series of dynamic pressure sensors are high temperature, piezoelectric-based pressure sensors designed for the long-term measurement and monitoring of combustor pulsations and combustion dynamics in gas turbines.(CP216;CP237;CP515)
